SBA’s Hispanic Small Business Community Virtual Town Hall

To kick off National Hispanic Heritage Month, the SBA Michigan District Office invites Hispanic owned small businesses throughout Michigan to take part in a Virtual Town Hall event.  This discussion will allow the SBA, its partners, and stakeholders to better assess the needs of the Hispanic small business community from a grass roots level.  Let Your Voice Be Heard!

Boots to Business Reboot- Traverse City

Boots to Business (B2B) is an entrepreneurial education and training program offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as part of the Department of Defense Transition Assistance Program (TAP). The course provides an overview of entrepreneurship and applicable business ownership fundamentals. Active-Duty Service members (including National Guard and Reserve), Veterans of all eras, and spouses are eligible to participate.

Accessing SBA Resources: How SBA can help secure funding for your business

Whether you’re a start-up or established, finding resources for your business can be challenging. The SBA Michigan district office and SBDC I-69 Trade Corridor Region invites you to attend an informative discussion to learn about the programs and services of the SBA available to your small business. Join us as we discuss SBA lending, contracting, and counseling programs that can help you access the capital your business needs.

Michigan Small Business Forum – Work Opportunity Tax Credit- Save the Date!

Join the SBA, IRS and the State of Michigan to learn about the Work Opportunity Credit (WOTC), a federal tax credit available to employers for hiring individuals from certain targeted groups who have consistently faced significant barriers to employment, the State of Michigan certification process and how to claim the WOTC on your federal income tax return.

Targeted Groups:

• the formerly incarcerated or those previously convicted of a felony;
• recipients of state assistance under part A of title IV of the Social Security Act (SSA);
• veterans;
• residents in areas designated as empowerment zones or rural renewal counties;
• individuals referred to an employer following completion of a rehabilitation plan or program;
• individuals whose families are recipients of supplemental nutrition assistance under the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008;
• recipients of supplemental security income benefits under title XVI of the SSA;
• individuals whose families are recipients of state assistance under part A of title IV of the SSA; and individuals experiencing long-term unemployment
