During the week, October 31-November 4, SBA and its extensive partner network celebrate the strength and resilience of the #VetBiz community by hosting events across the country and sharing information about the resources available to veteran entrepreneurs.
Cultivating Veteran and Women-owned Businesses: Full Speed Ahead!
Providing veteran and women-owned businesses with the skills, tools, and contacts needed to develop and sell their products and services are the goals of an upcoming conference to be held at Northwest Arkansas Community College.
Join us at 9:00 a.m. for presentations from state, federal, and private sector partners. The afternoon will feature in-depth comments and guidance from public and private sector procurement professionals, as well as on-site technical assistance from lending
professional through a Lenders Roundtable.
The Lenders Roundtable will be facilitated by Mr. Edward Haddock, District Director, Arkansas District Office, U.S. Small Business Administration. Lenders will represent local, regional, and statewide organizations. Invited lenders will include a host of private
banks in the region as well as non-traditional lenders such as Arkansas Capital Corporation Group, Communities Unlimited, FORGE, RMI Finance, Inc., U.S. Small Business Administration, and USDA, RD B&I.
Current and aspiring business owners, especially veterans, including spouses and women-owned business status as well as faith-based leaders, and community and economic development professionals, are invited to attend. You will engage with other business owners,
receive help with research and business planning, learn how to increase your networking results, and learn to do more business with the government and private industry.

What is Boots to Business Reboot
This one-day in-person course is offered off installation and provides participants with an overview of business fundamentals, while introducing techniques for evaluating the feasibility of business concepts.

The curriculum provides assistance to those interested in exploring business ownership or other self-employment opportunities by leading participants through the key steps for evaluating business concepts and providing foundational knowledge required to develop
a business plan. Participants are introduced to a broad spectrum of entrepreneurial business concepts and resources available to access start-up capital, technical assistance, contracting opportunities, and more.

Representatives from entrepreneurial support organizations across Arkansas will be on-hand to give you a short overview of how they can help your business access the counseling, capital or contracts your business needs. This local network of resources is available
to small business at all stages and offers free confidential business counseling, no or low-cost training programs and other networking opportunities.
We include time for us to hear from you — the veteran business owner — about the needs you face and how we can help your business.
There will also be a training focused on how to receive certification for the service-disabled veteran owned small business owner and a government contracting panel discussion with federal agency representatives.

What is Boots to Business?
Boots to Business (B2B) is an entrepreneurial education and training program offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as part of the Department of Defense Transition Assistance Program (TAP). The course provides an overview of entrepreneurship
and applicable business ownership fundamentals. Active Duty Service members (including National Guard and Reserve), Veterans of all eras, and spouses are eligible to participate.
The “Introduction to Entrepreneurship” course is the foundational piece of Boots to Business (B2B). Participants are introduced to the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to launch a business, including steps for developing business concepts, how to
develop a business plan, and information on SBA resources available to help. This two-day in-person program is facilitated by subject matter experts from the SBA and their extensive network of skilled business advisors.
