New Requirements for Receiving Federal Funds
The federal government recently changed its requirements for businesses and organizations receiving federal funds in the form of grants. It no longer uses the DUNS (Data Universal Number System) and has shifted to a new system known as the UEI (Unique Entity
Identifier).

Funding Opportunities from Washington State Department of Commerce
The Washington State Department of Commerce, working in partnership with the Washington State Arts Commission (ArtsWA),
will open applications for both Working Washington Round 5 and Convention Center Grant programs on Aug. 17, 2022. The portal will be open for 15 days, closing on Aug. 31 at 5 p.m.
Eligible for-profit and non-profit businesses, including tribal member-owned businesses operating on a reservation with a license issued by a federally recognized tribe in Washington state, may apply. Award amounts will vary and are subject to review and adjustment
pending application volume, reported losses, and take into account previous Working Washington grant awards received from Commerce or affiliated partners.
Working Washington Grants: Round 5
This program offers one-time grants to small for-profit and non-profit businesses that have experienced financial hardship due to Covid-19 and related public health measures.

Convention Center Grants
The Washington State Legislature has allocated $5 million for a grant program to assist businesses and nonprofits that are dependent to maintain their operations on the economic activity created through conventions hosted in Washington state.
WA State Department of Commerce and Arts WA will be hosting a free information session on Wednesday, August 3.
Small Business Flex Fund
The Small Business Flex Fund is a resource to help you grow your business. Supported the Washington State Department of Commerce, the Flex Fund helps small businesses and nonprofits access support they need to thrive.
Small businesses and nonprofits can borrow up to $150,000 and the money can be spent flexibly, including payroll, utilities and rent, supplies, marketing and advertising, building improvements or repairs, and other expenses.
