The heat may have broken for now, but prepare your business and employees for the next heat wave with these important tips:

  • Drink cool water throughout the day
  • Take rest breaks when working in heat and humidity
  • Find shade and cool areas if possible
  • Dress for the heat, wear light and breathable clothing if possible
  • Monitor yourself for symptoms of heat-related illness

Instagram stories are the perfect way to connect with your audience in a more “on the fly” capacity that allows you to share behind the scenes, daily tasks and little snippets of your life that people can relate to in a less polished and planned out manner. Instagram Reels allow you to show off your work in a more creative way than a single photograph.

E-Commerce Basics: Planning Ahead For This Holiday Season – July 15th, 10:30am-11:30am

We know it’s summer, it’s hot, and the last thing on your mind is winter holidays. However, now is the time to start thinking about getting your business ready for the upcoming holiday sales season! In this e-Commerce workshop, consultant Rebecca Perea-Kane will go over how to efficiently get your products online and available for purchase. We’ll look at integrating e-commerce into an already existing website, options for building a basic sales site on different platforms, and some important tips to keep in mind as you prepare your business to sell online.

In this 1-hour virtual workshop, Kristan Vermeulen of Knotical will guide you through how to best represent yourself to be interviewed on podcasts. We will discuss how to choose which podcasts best fit your brand, how to reach out to podcasts, and how to pitch to podcasts.


Community Navigator

Community Navigator Application Deadline Extended

Attention community organizations! Consider applying for SBA’s Community Navigator Pilot Program. You can play a role in connecting underserved small businesses with resources they need to recover from the economic impacts of the pandemic. The deadline to apply has been extended from July 12, 2021 to July 23, 2021.

Through the Community Navigator Pilot Program, SBA will engage with states, local governments, SBA resource partners, and other organizations in targeted outreach for small businesses underserved communities.  These efforts began with SBA issuing an Information Notice that offers advice and guidance on best practices for adopting the community navigator model for use by SBA district offices, state and local government partners, Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs), Women’s Business Centers (WBCs), Veterans Business Outreach Centers (VBOCs), SCORE, and other resource partners.
